From Green Hydrogen to Ammonia: Naidu Outlines AP’s Vision for Global Energy Dominance

News Date April 25, 2026

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed bold confidence in India’s trajectory toward becoming a global leader in the energy sector. Speaking at the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence in April 2026, Naidu predicted that India is on the verge of becoming a net exporter of power. This transition is being fueled by massive investments in green and renewable energy, including groundbreaking initiatives in green hydrogen, green ammonia, and long-duration storage solutions.

Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a central pillar of this national ambition. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a national target of 500 GW of green energy capacity by 2030, Naidu revealed that Andhra Pradesh alone aims to contribute 160 GW to that total. The state has already made significant progress, having achieved nearly 90 GW of its goal. The Chief Minister emphasized that the state is focusing on building an “end-to-end” energy ecosystem—ranging from solar panel manufacturing to advanced battery storage—to drive down costs for industry, transportation, and households.

The vision extends beyond large-scale utilities to decentralized generation. Naidu noted that the “future is entirely driven by green energy,” where individuals can generate power from their own rooftops and significantly reduce energy costs. By transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global investment hub for renewable tech, the state is not only securing its own energy future but creating the infrastructure for India to export clean energy in various forms to the world. As Naidu succinctly put it, if these efforts succeed, India will emerge as the “number one country in the energy sector” in the years to come.
