Adani Green Energy Adds 139 MW Solar Capacity at Khavda, Crosses 20.28 GW
September 2, 2026
Adani Green Energy has operationalized a 139 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat, marking another milestone in its large-scale renewable-energy expansion. The project commenced commercial operations on September 1, 2026, at 2:05 p.m. following the required clearances.
The latest addition takes the company’s total operational renewable-energy generation capacity to 20,280.80 MW, up from 20,142 MW reported as of June 30, 2026.
The new solar project was operationalized through Adani Green Energy Twenty Six A Limited, a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of Adani Green Energy.
Khavda has emerged as a major growth hub for the company’s renewable-energy portfolio, with the large-scale development providing significant potential for continued solar and wind capacity additions.
The latest commissioning also demonstrates the importance of phased project execution in scaling utility-scale renewable generation.
Generation capacity is only one part of the renewable-energy equation.
Adani Green Energy currently has 3,551 MWh of operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity, supporting the integration and dispatch of renewable electricity.
As solar and wind capacity increases, energy storage can become increasingly important for managing intermittency, supporting peak demand and improving grid flexibility.
The Khavda development illustrates how large renewable-energy projects are increasingly being built as part of a broader generation-and-storage ecosystem.
Adani Green Energy’s latest commissioning takes its operational renewable portfolio beyond 20.28 GW, reinforcing the scale at which India’s private-sector renewable developers are expanding.
As India’s electricity demand continues to grow, the combination of large-scale renewable generation, battery storage and transmission infrastructure will be critical to building a more flexible and reliable clean-energy system.
