New Delhi – Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured long-term financing from a group of Japanese banks led by MUFG Bank Ltd and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) for its major ±800 kV High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission project, the company said in a statement. The 950-kilometre corridor will be used to evacuate about 6,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy from Bhadla in Rajasthan to Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, helping move clean power from generation zones into northern India’s grid.

Built to support India’s expanding renewable energy requirements, the green power link will strengthen the flow of solar energy from Rajasthan’s solar-rich areas into regions with high electricity demand, aiding grid stability and reducing reliance on conventional power. The corridor is expected to be commissioned by 2029 and use advanced HVDC technology supplied in collaboration with Hitachi and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL).

The financing deal underscores continued international investor confidence in India’s clean energy infrastructure. The project is part of AESL’s broader strategy to expand its transmission network and integrate renewable power at scale, supporting the country’s shift toward sustainable electricity.

AESL said the long-term funding was arranged under its sustainable debt framework, aligning with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, and will enable it to build the transmission link without pressuring short-term finances. The involvement of Japanese lenders also highlights strengthening India–Japan cooperation in clean energy and critical infrastructure development.
