Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in its clean energy journey with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for 13 major hydropower projects valued at approximately ₹4 lakh crore. The agreement marks one of the largest investments in India’s hydroelectric sector and reinforces the state’s position as a future powerhouse for renewable electricity generation.

The projects are expected to unlock a substantial portion of Arunachal Pradesh’s vast hydropower potential while creating employment opportunities, strengthening regional infrastructure, and attracting long-term investments. Once developed, these projects will contribute significantly to India’s growing demand for clean, reliable electricity and support the country’s transition towards a low-carbon energy future.

Hydropower remains a crucial component of India’s renewable energy strategy because it provides stable, dispatchable electricity that complements intermittent renewable sources such as solar and wind.
