Chhattisgarh Regulatory Panel Unveils Data-Driven Tariff Structure for Renewable Energy Projects
November 24, 2025
The Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission has promulgated the revised tariff order for renewable energy installations in the state, which shall come into force with effect from November 10, 2025. This revised framework lays down data-based parameters for determining tariffs in tune with the national goals of increasing clean power generation and brings in clarity in regulations for developers and utilities.
Accordingly, under the revised regulations, renewable energy tariffs would be evaluated by the CSERC on comprehensive data inputs, thus offering a transparent mechanism for pricing power from sources such as solar, wind, biomass, and other clean technologies. The move is in keeping with India’s broader legal and policy framework that encourages the adoption of environment-friendly energy and investment security. The new approach will replace more static methods of tariff determination, as the guidelines by the commission are targeted to reflect actual performance and cost trends of projects. It has up-to-date metrics to balance off fair returns for the developers with reasonable costs for distribution companies and consumers.
According to the officials, the order will help Chhattisgarh achieve its renewable power targets and trigger more deployments within the state. Consequently, stakeholders in the power sector, such as independent power producers and distribution utilities, are likely to adjust their tariff proposals for the prevailing data-centric model, as they pursue new and ongoing project approvals.
