EIE Renewables just landed a big contract from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company.

EIE Renewables company installs 10 megawatts of rooftop solar panels on government buildings spread across eight districts. The state put out the tender back in September, and EIE has seven months from the day they get the award letter to wrap up the job.
Here’s how the solar panels break down: Medinipur, Bankura, Kolkata South, and Kolkata North each get 1.5 MW, while Bardhaman, Berhampore, Malda, and Siliguri will see 1 MW each. The budget for the bigger districts sits at ₹58.5 million, and the others get ₹39 million.
This isn’t just a one-off project. It’s part of a much larger state plan, West Bengal wants to roll out 40 MW of rooftop solar on government buildings across 20 districts. The whole thing is fully funded by the state, with a budget of ₹2 billion, and they’re spreading the work out in three phases until the end of the 2027-28 financial year.
EIE Renewables isn’t new to this game. Last year, they picked up nearly half of Soltrix Energy Solutions, a company that’s handling the engineering, procurement, and construction for a 29 MW solar project in Maharashtra.
India’s rooftop solar sector isn’t slowing down either. In just the first nine months of 2025, the country added almost 4.9 GW, way up from last year. Clearly, more people are turning to distributed solar power.
