News Date October 14, 2025

ENGIE has announced that they will be starting the Global Enterprise Startup Program in India. This project is expected to collaborate with existing startups to address teething problems faced by the Indian renewable energy segment by leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence. This effort has been initiated by ENGIE to improve efficiency and support the use of clean energy sources by blending industry knowledge with the innovation that startups can bring.

The collaboration involves partnerships of startups with ENGIE in several major sectors of the renewable and battery energy storage chains, including business, engineering, procurement, and construction, as well as operation and maintenance. This collaboration also involves ENGIE India’s energy trading function, in which digital technology is significantly transforming engagement in this sector through sophisticated digital processing and analytic systems, leveraging a platform called Urja.ai. Amit Jain, CEO & Country Manager India & MD Renewables & Batteries India & Southeast Asia at ENGIE, “The purpose of this initiative is to leverage the innovative thoughts from the startup ecosystem to help address some of the remaining challenges in solar, wind, storage batteries, and energy management solutions, in order to accelerate the transition to clean energy in India in the most innovative manner while providing more opportunities within the ecosystem.”

Applications to the program are now open in October 2025. There will be a selection in November, followed by a pitch day in December, and the final partnerships are expected to start in January 2026. Successful startups will get the opportunity to test their product in a pilot process with ENGIE India, get guidance from the leadership, and even grant support. This program welcomes mature startups, whether from India or internationally, based on the novelty of the ideas, the relationship to the operational challenges of ENGIE, and success in practical application.
