The biggest agreement has been signed by Botswana with a company based in Gujarat, which is expected to develop its renewable energy sector. In this agreement, investment worth approximately $4 billion (₹36,000 crore) is expected to flow into this African nation and develop its clean energy production to almost 5 GW.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the government of Botswana, specifically its “Ministry of Minerals and Energy,” and the “KP Group of Gujarat,” which is based in India, and is related to “large-scale renewable energy-based power projects, energy storage solutions, and improvement of electricity transmission infrastructure.” The MoU has the objective of enhancing high-voltage transmission infrastructure “in Botswana, as well as improving regional connectivity with adjoining nations.”

In addition, the Indian firm will provide 30 scholarships each year for Botswana nationals studying renewable energy, engineering, and sustainability. Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, referred to this investment as an important move by the country to cultivate a sustainable and secure energy future.
