Gujarat Keeps Green Energy Banking Fee at ₹1.50/kWh for Open Access Users
Under the revised framework, this charge, in accordance with the third amendment in 2025, is payable from September 2025 to March 2026.
Under these rules, the surplus electricity from solar open access projects can be “banked” that is, fed into the grid for later use-between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM daily, and monthly banking is allowed for wind-solar hybrid projects.
For wind-solar hybrid projects, surplus power is exempt from banking charges.
Open-access users, including captive and third-party users, may bank up to 30% of their monthly electricity consumption under the green-energy regulations. The decision provides clarity and stability for renewable energy developers and corporate consumers that are reliant on open access and banking mechanisms, assisting in the cost-planning of surplus energy storage and consumption.
