At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted India’s fast-moving transition to clean and renewable energy, stressing its focus on affordable, inclusive and sustainable growth. He told global leaders and investors that India’s experience from rooftop solar to agricultural energy projects offers useful lessons for developing countries while also calling for broader cooperation to meet global energy and climate goals.

During discussions with the World Economic Forum President and other international delegates, Joshi pointed to India’s progress in deploying large-scale renewable power and shared how the country has brought down solar costs significantly, expanded decentralized energy systems, and improved access for rural and remote areas. He emphasized that strong policy support, domestic manufacturing and resilient planning are helping India stay on track with its 2030 climate targets. Joshi also outlined India’s efforts to expand collaboration with global investors and partners, saying foreign capital and technology will be critical in scaling clean energy infrastructure. He encouraged investment in renewable power, energy storage, green hydrogen and climate finance initiatives.

In a roundtable focused on decentralized renewables, India shared its practical models such as rooftop solar and mini-grid systems  that can be adapted by other nations, especially in the Global South. Leaders from Maharashtra and Zimbabwe participated, underlining the relevance of these approaches for wider adoption.

Further at the forum, Joshi underscored the role of Indian states like Madhya Pradesh in translating national clean energy policies into action, achieving competitive solar and storage costs and demonstrating strong execution on the ground. Overall, India presented itself as a reliable partner in the global clean energy transition, seeking to blend economic growth with environmental responsibility and wider access to sustainable power
