India Solar Week 2026 Honors Alok Nigam for Excellence in Renewable Leadership
April 16, 2026
Alok Nigam, CEO of UPC Renewables India, has been honored with the prestigious Visionary Leader of the Year award at India Solar Week 2026. Held in February 2026 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center in New Delhi, the ceremony brought together the most influential names in the clean energy sector to celebrate leaders who aren’t just delivering megawatt, but are fundamentally re-imagining India’s energy landscape. Nigam’s recognition stems from his three decades of high-impact leadership across the energy and infrastructure sectors. Under his guidance, UPC Renewables has emerged as a powerhouse, securing additional titles at the event including Emerging Renewable Energy IPP of the Year and Operations & Asset Management Team of the Year. His unique “sandwich” of technical engineering background (NIT Durgapur) and financial sophistication (Delhi University) has allowed him to navigate complex regulatory and financial modeling with a level of strategic clarity that few in the industry possess.
Beyond his current role, Nigam is a respected voice in policy and market evolution. At the event, he actively participated in high-level summits, such as the Utility Renewable Summit, discussing critical shifts in Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and the integration of green hydrogen. His leadership philosophy centers on the idea that “people build companies, while processes enable them to scale”—a mantra that is currently driving UPC Renewables’ expansion into hybrid solar-wind projects and large-scale energy storage systems.
