Mahindra Susten Installs 560 MW of Solar Power in 2025 to Boost Clean Energy Output
December 31, 2025
Mahindra Susten, the renewable energy arm of the Mahindra Group, has successfully brought 560 megawatt-peak (MWp) of utility scale solar capacity into operation during the calendar year 2025, the company said in a statement. This new capacity, split equally between projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, marks a significant addition to India’s growing clean energy infrastructure and is expected to deliver reliable solar power under long-term contracts.
The newly commissioned portfolio comprises two 280 MWp solar plants, one each in Gujarat and Rajasthan, and will supply electricity under 25-year power purchase agreements with the respective state utilities Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. Together, the facilities cover nearly 2,000 acres and use advanced solar technology, including high efficiency modules, inverters and dry cleaning systems, to maximize energy output. The projects are connected to the grid through 220 kV substations, ensuring stable delivery of clean power to state networks.
According to the company, the combined 560 MWp capacity is expected to generate about 1,000 million units of clean electricity annually. Construction of these plants involved significant resources, with roughly 1 million solar modules installed, about 12,400 tons of steel, and 2,600 km of cabling, and included a peak workforce of around 1,000 people, completing 2.9 million safe man-hours during execution.
This commissioning represents Mahindra Susten’s first substantial asset additions after the company’s 2024 sale of 1.54 GWp of solar assets to the Sustainable Energy Infra Trust, part of its capital-light business strategy. The firm also continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio with several large-scale projects under development in states such as Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Karnataka, covering utility-scale, hybrid and group-captive solar and wind solutions.
