New Delhi — NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) has launched a tender to find suppliers of high-capacity solar panels for a 400 MW solar power project located in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh. Companies interested in providing the required equipment must submit their bids by March 2, 2026, with the same day set for opening the proposals.
The tender calls for bifacial crystalline solar modules with a minimum rating of 570 watts peak (Wp) that meet Indian regulatory quality lists, known as the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for modules and cells. To participate, bidders are required to provide a bid security deposit of ₹200 million (about $2.21 million) as part of the application process.
Under the scope of work, successful suppliers must handle the manufacturing, packaging, delivery and transportation of the solar panels to the designated project site. The modules must comply with strict standards for performance and quality to ensure durability and efficient power output.
Prospective bidders must meet specific experience and capacity requirements, including having manufactured and supplied a total of at least 200 MWp of solar modules or cells within any 12-month period over the past five years. At least one of these previous orders must have been for a minimum of 50 MWp, with the remainder at least 10 MWp each. Additionally, suppliers must demonstrate an annual module production capacity that is 1.67 times greater than the capacity they quote in their bid.
Financial criteria also apply: companies must show a minimum net worth equal to their paid-up capital and maintain an average turnover threshold based on their quoted capacity in recent financial years. Groups or subsidiaries can also qualify if they collectively meet the experience conditions.
This tender forms part of NREL’s larger renewable energy rollout in Uttar Pradesh, with past bids having sought solar modules for projects totaling up to 1,200 MW and other related components for utility-scale installations in the region.
