Odisha Secures ₹67,000 Crore in Renewable Energy Investments
February 13, 2026
Bhubaneswar, Odisha – At the 3rd Odisha Renewable Energy Investor Conclave 2026, the state government successfully finalized investment commitments totaling about ₹67,000 crore to develop approximately 6.8 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy capacity across solar, wind, pumped storage and other renewable technologies, officials said on Friday.
The agreements were signed between the state’s energy utility GRIDCO and major energy players including National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), and a consortium of ABC Cleantech Private Ltd & Axis Energy Ventures India Pvt. Ltd during the two-day conclave inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
Under the strategic pacts, NHPC will develop a 1,000 MW pumped storage project, NEEPCO will build an 800 MW pumped storage facility, and BPCL will take forward a mix of ground-mounted and floating solar projects along with storage elements. The largest agreement with ABC Cleantech and Axis Energy Ventures is focused on building 5,000 MW of clean energy capacity spanning wind, solar, hybrid solutions with battery storage and green hydrogen solutions.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo said Odisha’s geographic advantages, robust policy frameworks and streamlined approval processes are making the state an attractive destination for renewable developers and investors, aligning with India’s national target of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. He also inaugurated the state’s first wind resource assessment initiative and a city accelerator programme for clean energy deployment across six cities.
Officials noted that the investment commitments will support expansion in diverse clean energy segments including wind, solar, agrivoltaics, small hydro and waste-to-energy capacities, while GRIDCO’s Renewable Energy Nodal Agency (RENA) Cell will facilitate project development from concept to commissioning to ensure timely delivery and transparent processes.
With strong private sector participation and a defined project pipeline, the conclave underscores Odisha’s growing role as a leading clean energy investment hub in eastern India and reinforces its contribution to the country’s broader energy transition goals.
