Sunsure Energy Commissions 82.5 MW Solar Plant in Uttar Pradesh, Expands Open-Access Power Footprint

New Delhi / Jhansi — In a significant boost to clean energy capacity in the region, Sunsure Energy has commissioned an 82.5 MWp open-access solar power plant in Erach, Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, marking its tenth such facility in the state. With this addition, the company’s total operational open-access solar capacity in Uttar Pradesh reaches 260 MWp, reinforcing its position as a leading clean-energy supplier to industry.

The newly commissioned plant in Jhansi is expected to produce approximately 12.8 crore units, or 128 million units, of electricity per year-enough to supply major industrial consumers such as Haldiram’s, APL Apollo, and a large data center-and will do so with significantly reduced carbon compared to conventional power.

According to Sunsure, the project supports Uttar Pradesh’s transition toward sustainable energy, offering industrial clients cost-competitive, reliable green power. The company said this plant – its 10th in the state since it began operations in 2021 with a 15 MW project in Pailani – reflects rapid growth: a nearly 20-fold increase in capacity in about four years.

In addition to solar alone, Sunsure is scaling up clean-power supply, too; it has signed a long-term battery discharge purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited for a 125 MW/500 MWh BESS in August 2025. This underpins its aspiration to sell round-the-clock renewable energy-solar generation augmented with storage to meet demand reliably.

Sunsure currently manages 600 MW of operational assets across the country and has a pipeline of 7.5 GW across multiple states. It plans to scale this up to a 10 GW portfolio by 2030, as it continues its aggressive expansion plans in both solar and storage-backed clean-energy solutions. The commissioning in Jhansi not only strengthens Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy infrastructure but also provides industries with a viable path in ensuring sustainability, reducing power costs, and lowering carbon emissions-much in line with the broader national green-energy transition goals.
