News Date July 3, 2026

Tata Power Renewable Energy has announced an ambitious plan to install rooftop solar systems integrated with battery energy storage across one lakh households in Punjab over the next three years. The initiative, launched under the company’s “Ghar Ghar Solar” campaign, aims to make clean energy more accessible by combining rooftop solar, battery storage, and financing solutions that reduce the upfront cost for homeowners. The program is expected to add more than 500 MWp of rooftop solar capacity while supporting the growing adoption of distributed renewable energy in the state.

The campaign aligns with India’s broader efforts to encourage residential solar adoption through government support and subsidy programs. By integrating battery storage with rooftop solar systems, households can utilize more of the electricity they generate, improve energy reliability during grid interruptions, and reduce dependence on conventional power. Community outreach initiatives, including awareness programs such as “Mera Gaon, Mera Solar,” are also expected to play a role in increasing public participation and promoting energy independence across urban and rural areas.

For the renewable energy sector, the initiative demonstrates how residential solar is evolving beyond simple rooftop installations into comprehensive home energy solutions. The addition of battery storage allows consumers to maximize self-consumption, improve resilience, and better manage electricity costs. As more states promote decentralized renewable energy, projects like this are expected to contribute significantly to India’s clean energy transition while strengthening grid stability and reducing carbon emissions.
