India Calls for Worldwide Teamwork to Boost Clean Power Growth
January 12, 2026
India has urged nations around the world to work together to expand renewable energy use, especially helping developing countries grow their clean power capacity without slowing their economic progress. The call was made on January 12 at the 16th International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly in Abu Dhabi, where India highlighted the need for cooperation in investment, technology, and financial support to meet future energy goals.
At the gathering of global energy leaders, India’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, stressed that the global shift to cleaner energy will demand large-scale collaboration and financing. He pointed out that India alone will need about $300 billion in investment by 2030 to build renewable power generation, storage systems, grids, and green hydrogen facilities. Joshi said this presents major opportunities for global investors and underlined that support in technology sharing, affordable finance, and capacity building is essential to help developing economies grow clean energy while sustaining their development goals.
Joshi also reiterated India’s ambition to enhance its renewable energy capacity as part of its long-term climate commitments and offered India’s experience and expertise to assist other nations, especially less developed ones, in accelerating their renewable transitions. The minister emphasized that global energy cooperation should balance environmental sustainability with socio-economic progress for all countries.
