News Date January 15, 2026

NLC India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to work together on building largescale renewable energy projects worth about ₹25,000 crore, including solar, wind, hybrid and battery storage plants. The agreement was finalized on January 12, 2026, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot and signals a major step toward expanding clean power capacity in the state.

Under the non-binding MoU, the proposed initiatives will be carried out by NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), the company’s wholly owned renewable energy arm. The Government of Gujarat has agreed to help with necessary clearances and approvals under existing state policies to ensure projects can proceed smoothly.

NLC India said this collaboration supports its broader plan to reach 10 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and aligns with India’s goals of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and cutting carbon emissions. The MoU was signed by Devendra Pratap Singh, Executive Director (Projects and Business Development) and CEO of NLC India Renewables Limited, and Bhakthi Shamal, Joint Secretary of Gujarat’s Energy and Petrochemicals Department. Union Minister Piyush Goyal and several Gujarat state ministers were present at the ceremony. The projects under this partnership are expected to generate employment opportunities in Gujarat and strengthen the state’s position as a key hub for renewable energy investment in India.
