India Builds Strong Global Renewable Energy Partnerships at WEF 2026
January 27, 2026
India has strengthened international cooperation and boosted investor confidence in its renewable energy transition at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said after concluding a series of high-level engagements with global leaders, institutions and investors. These interactions reinforced India’s role as a major destination for long-term clean energy investments and highlighted its progress in expanding renewable power capacity.
At the forum, Joshi showcased India’s clean energy growth story, emphasising the country’s stable policy framework, coordinated central-state governance, and rapid expansion of renewable capacity — which includes significant achievements in solar, wind and green hydrogen sectors. International stakeholders responded with strong interest in India’s investible project pipeline and recognised the success of national programmes that scale renewable deployment across the country.
The minister also underlined India’s efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing in the solar photovoltaic value chain, positioning the nation as a resilient, competitive clean energy manufacturing hub. Discussions at Davos covered opportunities for collaboration in solar, wind, green hydrogen and energy storage technologies, including potential partnerships under initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance.
During bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum, India explored deepened cooperation with several countries and multilateral development organisations. Talks included collaboration on renewable energy investments, technology sharing, capacity-building, research and development, and climate finance frameworks to accelerate clean energy transitions globally.
Joshi also highlighted the role of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, in improving energy forecasting, reducing transmission losses, cutting costs and enhancing grid reliability, further strengthening India’s clean energy infrastructure and investment appeal.
India’s engagements at WEF 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the global clean energy transition through stable domestic policies, sustained international cooperation and long-term investment partnerships.
