Solar engineering company Waaree Renewable Technologies has secured a contract to build a 300 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, strengthening its presence in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. The project was awarded by Purvah Green Power, a renewable energy company backed by CESC Limited. The contract is valued at around ₹3.46 billion (about $40 million) and is expected to be completed within the current financial year.
Under the agreement, Waaree will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the solar power plant. The company’s scope of work includes designing the project, procuring equipment, installing solar modules, building supporting infrastructure, and commissioning the plant for operation. In addition, Waaree will oversee testing and grid integration to ensure that the project meets performance and safety standards.
The project will involve the construction of a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic facility along with a 33/220 kV pooling substation to transmit the electricity generated by the plant. The installation will also incorporate advanced robotic cleaning systems to improve the efficiency of solar panels and reduce long-term operation and maintenance costs.
The solar project forms part of a larger renewable energy initiative by Purvah Green Power. The company had earlier been selected to develop 300 MW of interstate transmission system-connected solar capacity, with part of the capacity awarded through competitive bidding and the remaining portion under a greenshoe option.
For Waaree Renewable Technologies, the contract represents another major addition to its growing project portfolio. The company has been actively expanding its EPC operations as demand for utility-scale solar projects increases across India. With several large contracts secured in recent months, Waaree continues to strengthen its position in the country’s renewable energy value chain.
The new project also supports India’s broader push to expand renewable energy capacity and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Large solar developments like the Bikaner project are expected to contribute to the country’s goal of significantly increasing clean power generation in the coming years.
