New Opportunity for Industrial Consumers: NTPC Opens Bids for Solar-Plus-Storage Powe

News Date March 24, 2026

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has officially invited Expressions of Interest to procure renewable power from an upcoming 100 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh. This innovative project is equipped with a significant 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system to ensure a steady power supply. The initiative is being managed on behalf of NTPC UP Green Energy, a joint venture dedicated to expanding solar capacity across the state. This move marks a major step toward achieving India’s ambitious 60 GW renewable energy target by 2032.

The project offers a unique advantage for heavy energy users, as it allows for power procurement during both solar and non-solar hours. By utilizing the integrated battery storage, businesses can draw on clean energy even during evening peak periods when solar generation is unavailable. Successful bidders will be connected directly to the state’s transmission utility, ensuring a reliable and streamlined delivery process. This structure is designed to provide greater grid stability and more consistent energy costs for large-scale consumers.

Bidding is open to a wide range of participants, including industrial establishments, commercial entities, and distribution companies within Uttar Pradesh. To qualify, individual or combined groups of buyers must have a minimum procurement requirement of 5 MW. Interested parties have until April 23, 2026, to submit their bids, with the official opening scheduled for the following day. For industries looking to decarbonize their operations while securing energy reliability, this tender represents a prime strategic opportunity.
