Recyclekaro Secures Ministry of Mines Incentive to Scale Critical Mineral Recovery

News Date April 9, 2026

Mumbai-based Recyclekaro is set to significantly bolster India’s domestic supply of essential battery materials. The e-waste and lithium-ion recycling specialist has secured eligibility for the government’s new incentive program under the National Critical Minerals Mission. To capitalize on this support, the company has announced an ambitious ₹3 billion  investment to scale its processing capacity to 50,000 metric tons, focusing on the recovery of lithium and rare earth elements from spent batteries and electronic waste.

The expansion is classified as a “brownfield” project and targets multiple high-value waste streams, including electronic circuit boards, rare earth magnets, and catalytic converters. Currently, Recyclekaro operates facilities capable of processing 10,000 metric tons of lithium-ion batteries with a claimed recovery efficiency of over 95%. By scaling these operations, the company aims to create a “circular” supply chain that reduces India’s heavy reliance on mineral imports—a critical step for the country’s electric vehicle (EV) and renewable energy ambitions.

Beyond immediate capacity building, Recyclekaro is looking toward long-term innovation with a planned ₹5 billion investment in a new R&D facility over the next five years. This facility will specialize in advanced recovery techniques for rare earths, supporting recent government initiatives like the ₹72.8 billion program for sintered rare earth permanent magnets. As the world competes for limited mineral resources, Recyclekaro’s expansion positions it as a key player in ensuring that India’s green transition is built on a sustainable and secure mineral foundation.
