Deendayal Port Authority Floats ₹71.7 Crore Tender for Green Hydrogen Hub Connectivity
May 8, 2026
The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Gujarat has taken a significant step toward becoming India’s premier green energy gateway by floating a ₹71.70 crore tender. This project isn’t for the hydrogen itself, but for the critical “last-mile” infrastructure: a dedicated road network at Old Kandla specifically designed to support the logistics of upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects.
As India positions itself as a global hub for green hydrogen, ports are becoming the primary staging grounds for export and storage. However, moving the massive specialized equipment and pressurized storage tanks required for these fuels requires heavy-duty, high-spec road connectivity. This tender covers the construction and strengthening of road stretches that will connect the port’s specialized terminals to the manufacturing hubs. By investing ₹717 million in this “enabling infrastructure,” the DPA is ensuring that the physical movement of zero-emission fuels doesn’t become a bottleneck for the multibillion-dollar projects currently planned for the region.
The development is part of the larger National Green Hydrogen Mission, where the Kandla-Deendayal area has been identified as a key “Green Hydrogen Hub.” With several private players eyeing the region for electrolyser plants and ammonia export facilities, the port authority’s move to build the logistics backbone now is a proactive effort to stay ahead of the global energy transition curve.
