Goa to Set Up 70 New EV Charging Stations Under PM E-Drive Scheme

Goa is set to significantly strengthen its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure by establishing 70 new public EV charging stations under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Scheme. The initiative is aimed at expanding charging accessibility across the state, encouraging EV adoption, and supporting India’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.

The new charging stations will be strategically installed at key public locations, including urban centres, highways, tourist destinations, and commercial areas, making EV charging more convenient for both residents and visitors. The project aligns with Goa’s vision of becoming one of India’s leading states for electric mobility while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

The PM E-Drive Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, supports the expansion of India’s EV ecosystem by promoting electric vehicle adoption and developing nationwide charging infrastructure. Public charging stations are considered a crucial component in reducing range anxiety and enabling the widespread use of electric vehicles across the country.

Goa has already introduced progressive EV policies, including incentives for electric vehicles and support for charging infrastructure. The addition of 70 new charging stations will complement the state’s renewable energy initiatives while improving convenience for electric cars, buses, two-wheelers, and commercial fleets.
