Government Launches WT-MARUT Portal to Strengthen India's Wind Energy Supply Chain
July 15, 2026
The Government of India has launched WT-MARUT (Wind Turbine Materials and Resources Utility Tracker), the country’s first dedicated digital platform for wind turbine supply chain management. Unveiled by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi during the Global Wind Day Conference 2026 in Goa, the portal is designed to strengthen India’s domestic wind manufacturing ecosystem and support the nation’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
WT-MARUT will improve supply chain transparency by connecting manufacturers, component suppliers, developers, and other stakeholders on a single digital platform. The initiative aims to simplify supplier discovery, enhance domestic sourcing under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, improve manufacturing visibility, and increase India’s competitiveness in the global wind energy market.
Speaking at the launch, the minister expressed confidence that India can achieve 100 GW of installed wind capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035. He also highlighted that India added a record 6.1 GW of new wind capacity during FY 2025–26, marking the country’s highest-ever annual wind installation and taking total installed wind capacity beyond 56 GW, making India the world’s fourth-largest wind energy market.
Industry leaders believe the portal will strengthen India’s already robust manufacturing capabilities across nacelles, blades, towers, gearboxes, and other key wind turbine components. Improved supply chain coordination is expected to reduce project delays, support domestic manufacturing, encourage exports, and create new business opportunities across the renewable energy value chain.
As India accelerates its clean energy transition, initiatives like WT-MARUT are expected to play a vital role in building a resilient domestic supply chain, reducing dependence on imports, and supporting the country’s long-term renewable energy expansion.
