Saatvik Green Energy Acquires 80% Stake in Melcon Transformers to Bolster Supply Chain

News Date April 24, 2026

In a strategic pivot to deepen its control over the power value chain, Saatvik Green Energy Limited has announced the acquisition of an 80% equity stake in the Jaipur-based Melcon Transformers and Electricals Private Limited. The deal, finalized via a share purchase agreement on April 23, 2026, involves a cash consideration of approximately ₹2.4 crore. This move marks Saatvik’s formal entry into the power equipment manufacturing segment, moving beyond its established core in solar module production and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services.

Melcon, founded in 2005 with a manufacturing facility in Alwar, specializes in a wide range of products including oil-type, dry-type, auxiliary, and energy-efficient transformers ranging from 5 KVA to 12,500 KVA. By bringing this technical capability in-house, Saatvik aims to enhance its project execution speed and ensure a more resilient supply chain. As India targets 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, grid infrastructure and reliable transmission equipment are becoming critical bottlenecks; Saatvik’s acquisition positions it to offer more integrated, “generation-to-grid” solutions.

While the acquisition unlocks significant operational synergies, investors will be keeping a close eye on the financial integration. Melcon has seen a declining revenue trend recently, with turnover projected to drop to ₹4.17 crore for FY2025 from ₹8.32 crore in FY2023. Saatvik’s CEO, Prashant Mathur, emphasized that the transition is about building a robust ecosystem, noting that “transformers are a critical bridge between generation and consumption.” This acquisition follows a series of expansion moves by Saatvik, including a massive 4.8 GW solar cell facility in Odisha, signaling the company’s ambition to become a fully integrated powerhouse in the renewable energy sector.
