As India targets a massive 900 GW of renewable capacity by 2035, the biggest hurdle isn’t just technology—it’s people. To address a projected shortfall of 150,000 skilled workers in the wind sector alone by 2030, Tata Power has partnered with the Centre of Renewable Energy (CORE), the training arm of the Powercon Group. This collaboration aims to create a specialized pipeline of technicians and managers capable of handling the sophisticated demands of modern wind turbine operations and maintenance (O&M).

The training isn’t just a standard classroom course; it follows a rigorous three-layer “sandwich” model. It starts with theoretical foundations in safety and plant architecture, moves into hands-on field exposure at operational wind sites, and culminates in advanced modules on troubleshooting and data analytics. Trainees will also utilize CORE’s high-tech Centre for Engineering Excellence (CFEE), where they can simulate turbine control and power flow. This ensures that when these professionals hit the field, they aren’t just “fixing hardware”—they are managing assets using remote command centers and predictive analytics.

What sets this program apart is its focus on “Asset Performance Management.” In today’s energy market, it’s not enough to keep a turbine spinning; it must operate at peak efficiency to ensure financial viability. By combining technical skills with managerial training for large-scale installations, Tata Power and CORE are setting a new benchmark for “job-ready” talent. This initiative, aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), ensures that the workforce is equipped to handle everything from PCB repairs to multi-GW battery storage integration, securing the human backbone of India’s energy transition.
